intimidation

Hello, I am having a problem with a certain individual from upper management. It seems that the only time this individual is willing to talk to me is when there are no witnesses around.Inevitably, the conversation is short and filled with threats of grading me on my next performance review. I always understood that to be the job of my boss....not my boss's boss!! What can the union do for me?

Teamsters Response:

In a unionized environment this can be handled in two different ways.

  1. You can stop the boss (or boss's boss) once it appears he/she is harassing you or it appears the conversation might result in discipline…….in other words, you can demand that a shop steward be present. If you do this…. 99% of the time the boss will never bother you again.
  2. You can let the boss finish then file a complaint with your human resources department. If the human resources department doesn’t deal with the situation appropriately then you can file a grievance against the boss with your shop steward. Usually the union demands a cease and desist letter from the company with provisions that punish the guilty manager if he/she violates the agreement.

Myth #4: FedEx management say’s it will close any unionized terminal

It is against the law to say that or any threat.  FedEx hasn’t closed its unionized European operations nor have they eliminated their unionized pilots.  So why would they shut you down?  The answer is simple: “it’s only a scare tactic”.
