Rumor of FedEx leaving Canada

I've heard that FedEx will leave canada if the teamsters come in. I like my job and that scares me.

Teamsters Response:

Most companies use that scare tactic. Every single organizing drive I’ve seen the company threatens to move or shut down. The fact is FedEx has not eliminated its unionized pilots or shut down their unionized European operations…..so ask yourself this….why would they pull out of Canada and give the work to Purolator and UPS? The answer is they won’t as it doesn’t make economic sense.

The Real Story about union dues

  1. The Canada Labour Code says that $5 is required for the sign-up process.
  2. There are no initiation fees when you join Teamsters Canada.
  3. You start paying union dues only when you obtain your first collective agreement.
