Union Dues - Mis-conception
I keep hearing about concerned workers having to pay Union Dues. I would like to try and clear this matter of mis-conception up and maybe you can validate whether or not this is true. I am not trying to take the concern away (a dollar is a dollar for me as well) but I just want it looked at from another angle. One in which I think we can all relate. Union Dues are necessary and a very small price to pay considering the benefits! I drink (no lie) 4 extra large cups of steeped tea per day (that is right, steeped) from Tim Hortons which costs me over $5 bucks a day or so. I know, I know, crazy right but for me it is an unfortunate necessity. Hot water is free, a tea bag (what? 1000 bags for 4 bucks). No sugar, no milk.. It is a no brainer that I would be willing to give up one cup of steeped a day to cover my Union Dues. The way I see it, it would cost less than a buck a day for my Union Dues after I get my tax break. After what I lost and the benefits I would gain for my family and future..hot water and bags it is. I cannot lose!

If you go to "The Real Story" section of the website and watch the "Video Blog" number 3.....I believe I answer that question.
Great question!

Myth #3: If you form a union, you risk losing the benefits and pay raises you already have
The truth is... It is illegal for a company to freeze or cut previously scheduled raises to discourage you from forming a union. Once you’re organized, you’ll lock in current wages and benefits and then negotiate improvements from there. Read more >
