Sick benefits
There was a time sick days were unlimited .. 2 years ago it was limited to 40 hours per fiscal year for full-time and 30 hours for part-time .. after that it is 70 percent of your pay. How would a union change that?

By negotiating improvements that the employees want.
It will be difficult to get all the things back that have been taken away over the years, but negotiating a contract can stop that trend and will set the stage to negotiate improvements.
