merit increase

As the earlier topic on pay equity mentioned,Fedex employees have received pay increases based on their performance review they receive from their manager. The problem with this is that managers are told by upper management not to give to many high scores,in fact the more money managers save the company money, the bigger the bonus they get.So you can see what this leads to. Many years ago if you never called in sick and had no accidents and were a good worker, you always got a nice score, but now managers always find sneaky ways to lower your score so they can get their bonus, which of coarse is a slap in the face for all the hard work you did. Will being in a union stop all this abuse by managers?

Teamsters Response:

The only way to be paid fairly is to have the rules spelled out in a contract. So the answer is yes...this will stop any abuse by management.

The Real Story about union dues

  1. The Canada Labour Code says that $5 is required for the sign-up process.
  2. There are no initiation fees when you join Teamsters Canada.
  3. You start paying union dues only when you obtain your first collective agreement.
