Why Are The Teamsters Using 2004 FedEx Benefits Data and Not Current Data?

The subject line sums up my question/comments. In some literature handed to me by the Teamsters, comparisons are made between current UPS and Purolator benifts and wages 2004 FedEx benefits and wages. I don't see the benefit in comparing the packages of UPS,Purolator and FedEx unless you compare them accurately and then let us decide what is better. The fear is that it seems like there is something to hide when each company is not properly represented in these comparisons.

Teamsters Response:

The 2004 FedEx data is all we had at the time when we were making the comparison data. The data only shows the FedEx benefits plan. If there is an updated plan I'm sure you can use that against the UPS and Purolator plan which is outlined in the literature.

I couldn't do a wage comparison as most FedEx workers seem to be paid on different scales based on the merit system, so what I did was just show what the UPS and Purolator workers make. I did the same on the pension as Purolator and UPS have defined pension plans while FedEx seems to have a cash balance type of deal.
