Tiger Woods / FedEx Cup
Outside our station in Toronto Teamsters' has a sign informing us that Tiger won 10 million for winning the FedEx Cup and what has FedEx paid the employee's? Now my understanding is that FedEx sponsors the PGA so that our logo is attached to all PGA events which in turn promotes our company/products, with that being said does one of Teamster's partners (Purolator) not sponsor the CFL and the Winter Olympics which I am sure they have paid alot of money just like FedEx to get their name on those events??? So my questions is why do you post a sign like this outside FedEx when your partners have done the exact same thing to promote their companies??? Is this not a contradiction????? Is this not part of promoting your company and growing your business???
Teamsters Response:
It's true that Purolator and UPS advertise just like FedEx. However......the big difference is Purolator and UPS got strong raises, benefit improvements, and pension increases. FedEx employees got a small raise, and lost 30% into their pensions.
