Thank you for publishing my initial question. I'm anxiously awaiting your response to the follow-up. The question is very relevant in our building, where 62.5% of P&D driving is under the direction of multi-van contractors.
Teamsters Response:
Teamsters represent owner/operators all over Canada. In some cases the unionized owner/operators have multiple trucks and in some cases they don't. We have collective agreements that cover the owner/operators relief drivers and some that don't cover them.
In most cases when the relief driver is not organized he/she is the resonsibility of the owner/operator. If the relief driver is organized in most cases he/she is considered an employee of the company unless the collective agreement says otherwise..

- The Canada Labour Code says that $5 is required for the sign-up process.
- There are no initiation fees when you join Teamsters Canada.
- You start paying union dues only when you obtain your first collective agreement.
