Comment and Question

I am a fedex ground driver as well. Let me introduce my way of thinking. Yes, I get paid based on packages picked up. I know, that fedex express drivers also make pick ups for ground packages. In my opion when this is done, I am actually losing the potential for myself and others will too. I will certainly never only be thinking of myself knowing there are a least 19 other drivers who go without these packages that will impact their rate of pay for lost freight (again, because express drivers are making those pick ups rather than me.} This is all per express management. I want everyone to benefit including myself, therefore my question is this: " Would a contract enable express drivers to be allowed to pick up my meat as you could say" As I see it, a contract would actually benefit ground drivers from potentially making higher earnings. Keep in mind, it doesnt matter to express drivers because they get paid hourly. I see no benefit to not having a contract. The only one actually benefiting is fedex because of not having to pay ground for parcels picked up by their express drivers. Doesnt this seem more of a benefit (having a contract) to ground drivers. I think so. Agree or disagree?

Teamsters Response:

I agree. A Teamster contract would protect both the express driver and the ground owner/operator.

Myth #4: FedEx management say’s it will close any unionized terminal

It is against the law to say that or any threat.  FedEx hasn’t closed its unionized European operations nor have they eliminated their unionized pilots.  So why would they shut you down?  The answer is simple: “it’s only a scare tactic”.
