Constructive Dismissal

Its nice to hear that some are getting some benefits back (15 mins ) unfortunately not all of us are so lucky. Sr couriers are being forced to do split shifts in a company that has bragged for all of my 19 years that they don't have split shifts. Our start times vary almost daily bye as much as 2 hours,we are given full day shifts some days and then part time shifts the rest of the week losing out on our pay and pension as we are only paid pension on regular hours, so the extra hours on a 4x10 (2hrs) we receive no pension.I as a 5x8 have found many of our rtes replaced with 4x10 rtes effectively eliminating my source of work.I believe that there is a move to force higher paid senior employees (sr couriers) to step down or worse terminate them for not being supportive of management.Thoughts please as wondering if others are experiencing similar tactics.

Teamsters Response:

Yes I am hearing that the 15 minutes was not given back in all locations and that there are split shifts that are as long as two hours in some locations. And yes I have heard that some senior couriers are having a difficult time with management.

Myth #2: The union will make you go on strike

The truth is... Strikes are a rare last resort in contract negotiations – more than 95% of Teamster contracts are negotiated without a strike.  A strike will only happen when a majority of workers vote to call one. Read more >
