Urgent-Fedex is jeopardizing your health and the health of your loved ones.

In light of a serious pandemic and despite health Canada urging people to stay home for one week at the on set of flu/H1N1 symptoms,Fedex-the people company,is adamant and will make no exceptions regarding their already unfair sick day rules as it pertains to your performance review at end of year. In other words,if you call in sick 1 day,2 days or for 1 week like you should if you contract the H1N1 flu, this will be considered as normal sick days on your file. This of coarse will put pressure on sick employee's to show up to work and make those around them sick too. Fedex rewards a work at all cost attitude and discourages people from taking sick days. Every station also have a plaques with employee's name engraved on it who haven't called in sick for 3-5-7-10 years and more, shame on you who ever you are-please stay home when sick. Fedex does not emphasize the importance of a healthy work place, even during a pandemic, putting fedex employee's and in turn their Family's at risk of contracting the H1N1. I encourage all employees of fedex who have the flu to stay home for one week so you can better take care of yourself and so as not to infect and endanger your co-workers and their family's. Remember, the Canadian Government has made clear that during this pandemic, your employer cannot ask you for a doctor's note if you call in sick, whether its 1 day or 1 week.

Teamsters Response:

I hope FedEx deals with H1N1 on a fair basis with it's employee's. At Purolator and UPS they still receive their regular wage increases regardless of how many sick-days a worker has.

Info on union busting

While the right to join and form trade unions is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR),[1] union busting actions subvert the organization and continuation of unions by sowing discord amongst union members, challenging unions via law courts, strike breaking, lockouts, violent suppression, the sponsorship of anti-union organizations, or the creation of employer-controlled trade unions.
