David Binks walks away during question period
I couldn’t believe what I witnessed in Calgary. It almost looked like David Binks had scripted questions asked by a fellow employee so that David could talk about the Teamsters. Most of us thought it was so funny that he said if we unionize we will start with a blank piece of paper and when the Teamsters are in we can’t get rid of them. The joke is you answered those things in your handouts and all Binks did was make us mad. He also refused to answer questions about our pension and raises. When he was asked about us driving with unsafe tires ,which is a serious issue in Calgary ,he just walked away in front of all of us. Time for a union.
Teamsters Response:
The “blank piece of paper” argument is one of the oldest union-busting tools used. Most non-union workers realize that without a contract is like working with a blank piece of paper. The company is trying to insinuate that you could lose what you have which is not true as the workers vote on their contract with their employer. I have never heard of or seen a group of newly organized Teamsters vote on and approve something that’s less then what they have….It just doesn’t happen and the company knows it.

The law protects you
The Canada Labour Code makes it crystal clear that you are protected from intimidation or worse from your employer as you consider joining a union. Here's what it has to say.
No employer or person acting on behalf of an employer shall:
(a) refuse to employ or to continue to employ or suspend, transfer, lay off or otherwise discriminate against any person with respect to employment, pay or any other term or condition of employment or intimidate, threaten or otherwise discipline any person, because the person
(i) is or proposes to become, or seeks to induce any other person to become, a member, officer or representative of a trade union or participates in the promotion, formation or administration of a trade union.
